Notes
A vertical border of stepped diamonds in red and navy on cream. Each diamond holds a small red cross at its heart, linked by crossing navy diagonals into a continuous lattice. Navy lines and red stripes frame both edges, giving it the look of a woven runner. Stitch it as a long vertical border for a sampler, a bookmark or a table runner, or repeat the diamonds to any length. This motif is taken from The Embroiderer's Alphabet. This is a collection of cross stitch designs first published in the later 1800s and as now in the public domain.
