Notes
Heddle's autumn collection continues with the oak leaf. After the maple, it felt right to turn to the tree I think of as the most English of them all. The oak is woven into English countryside, folklore and history. It lines village greens, hedgerows and rolling hills, and its leaf is one of the most distinctive shapes in the British landscape. It suits cross-stitch well, because the lobes and notches stay clear even on a small grid. This is a small, two-colour pattern, so it works up quickly. Stitch it on its own as a bookmark, ornament or greetings card, or add it to a larger autumn sampler alongside the rest of the autumn collection.
